On October 3-4, the Spokane Troops of St. George will have a service project running an apple cider pressing booth at the Mennonite Country Auction in Ritzville. Proceeds from the event go to support the international relief efforts of the Mennonite Central Committee. Last year, the troop pressed three hundred gallons of apple cider and made over two thousand dollars for the charity.
Set up and pressing will begin at 3pm Friday afternoon. Eric Reimer will be on site by then. He can be reached at (509)742-0283 if you need help with directions or other questions. Dinner will be provided for volunteers Friday evening. The main event will take place on Saturday. Cider pressing will resume at 8am Saturday Morning with the booth opening for business at 10am. The event will end by 4pm Saturday.
The event is located at Menno Mennonite Church, a rural church between Ritzville and Moses Lake. Directions can be found at this link. Troops can come for both days or one day. If you are coming for both days, you can camp out at the church. Tent and RV sites are available, though there are no hookups. Feel free to reach out to Eric by phone, or the Troop email with any questions.
